ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
David Von Kotzebue is a screenwriter and novelist from Golden, Colorado. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He served five years in the Corps of Engineers following his West Point graduation. He practiced civil engineering for several decades, writing hundreds of technical publications and reports.
David obtained a Master’s of Divinity at Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and served several churches over 15 years. During this time, in addition to pastoring, David did motivational speaking on a wide range of subjects, published several motivational booklets, and hosted two radio programs.
In retirement, David has turned to writing. Your Grandfather’s Saber is his first full-length book. He has written two original songs from the book, “What About Them?”, a song in which soldiers question the well-being of their families, and “The Linkup,” a song celebrating the link-up of the Yanks and the Reds in World War II, the key battle described in the book.
His screenwriting credits include:
- Shadow-Catcher, the Edward Curtis Story, about the life of the famous photographer of Native Americans;
- The Last Day, in which a high school marching band leads its town to recovery after devastating tornadoes;
- Holiday Hookup, a romantic dramedy clash of cultures;
- Spiders On A Submarine, a horror/thriller;
- Confessions Of An Internet Dater, a romantic farce; and
- Your Grandfather’s Sabre, the screen adaptation of his book.
His stage plays include Holiday Hookup and The Last Day, adaptations of the movies. Both can be performed as dramas or as musicals. He has written 12 original songs for both plays. Both have been produced on the stage.

Now, know I only ask 2 questions of all my Guest Authors, here are the 2 I asked David and his reply’s:
1.) What was it that made you begin to write? Is it a hobby? Passion?
“I’ve done tech writing all my career life. I turned to creative writing to tell the stories of two of my heroes and have done it intensively since a m/c accident left me w/only my fingertips (better now!)”.
2.) Has there been anyone positive/exciting thing that has happened to you since your books have released?
“Receiving positive reviews, like the ones for, “Your Grandfather’s Sabre”, as all have been 5 Star Reviews! And I volunteer & help out Veterans, which is very close to my heart”.
