About The Author:
J. A. Owenby lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her husband and two cats.
She’s a published author of six short stories and her first full-length novel is expected in late spring of 2016. J.A. doesn’t mess around when it comes to working with a team in order to present her best writing. She is a firm believer in outlining and investing in a professional editor.
A few of her available short stories are “Tears in the Sun” and “Blurred Lines” both on Amazon.
As a resume writer, she helps people find jobs they love by developing a strong accomplishment based marketing snapshot.
She graduated from Lake Hamilton High in 1988 and attended Garland Community College for two years, as she majored in communications. She was the editor of her college newspaper, and even wrote her own column. She now owns and runs ONB Professional Resume Services …
Her business gives back to the community by volunteering time to Habitat For Humanity.
She is an avid reader of thrillers, romance, new adult, and young adult novels. She loves music, movies, and rain. Her downtime consists of enjoying a beautiful summer evening and snuggling with her hubby outside underneath the stars or if it’s winter, listening to the rain and watching NFL football.

Now my readers know I only ask a few questions of all my guest authors, as I am not like James Lipton of The Actors Studio. LOL. Here are the questions I asked of Jennifer and how she answered them.
1.) How did you become a writer?
I wrote my first short story at the ripe ol’ age of 5. My mom had received her first acceptance letter concerning her children’s story and I wanted to be a writer just like her.
2.) How did you decide to publish your work?
I put my writing on the back burner for years and then picked it up again. I immediately had 2 stories published in magazines, and a few years later another in a literary magazine. My last two shorts, I worked with Gloria Kempton and Karlyn Thayer from Writer’s Digest and self-published on Amazon. My stories had moved more into new adult and I wasn’t finding magazines that were taking stories with the themes I was writing.
3.) What are a few things readers may not know about you that you would like to share?
I’m a private person, but I’m one of the women that beat the odds and escaped a nightmare of an abusive marriage. I moved myself and two children two thousand miles from everything I knew and started over. I was bound and determined I was going to move forward, and I did. I’ve had success with my writing and I also have my own business. There is hope.

Jen’s answer to question three had me get a little misty eyed. I know how difficult it can be to share personal experiences. Just like when I write about my own on life trials on my recovery blog.
I am sure that Jennifer would agree with me when I say that sharing these types of personal experiences of negative trials in our lives, they can be of help to others who maybe going through them now. It does give others hope like Jen mentioned. And we need to speak out about these topics as to raise awareness.
So let us learn more about Jennifer’s two current E-books that are short stories, as they deal with these types of life trials and triumphs. . .
