Welcome Recovery Friends, New Visitors, and Recovery Seekers,
I have the pleasure and honor today to welcome a fantastic writer, author and wonderful recovery friend, “Dean Ingram” as my “Special Guest Author” here today. As many of you know, I’m not shy about my recovery from addicted compulsive gambling with too much alcohol, and my mental health challenges. So when I meet like-minded friends, I enjoy sharing what they do! And Dean is one such friend! He has such a way with writing words, and in HOW he shares his own experiences, strength, and share *HOPE* to others!
I do have to confess, I haven’t read all of his book thus far, but it is my next “Recovery Read” on my list to finish. As I’m trying to finish my next 2 books projects. But what I have read thus far is a powerful recovery share with in-depth insight into the dark world of addictions.
.
.
He is the writer and author of the book, “Dark To Light,” available on Amazon and is in Paperback and e-Book for Kindle!
.
“Readers who’s lives are or have been touched in any way by alcohol and drug addiction
will want to read this book.”
.
“Here is a little from Dean as to how his book came to be, and a little about himself in his own Honest and Raw words!”
.
” …Alone (again) on my boat with an enormous amount of cocaine, I fully intended to blow my heart to smithereens. Cutting fat lines sure to end my misery, an unrelenting voice in my head urgently insisted I “write this down!”. Finally giving in, I found a pen and began. My hand would not stop writing. What spilled out onto that paper astounded me so that I threw the cocaine overboard. Alive and 20 years later, those very words begin Chapter 1, “The Experience”, in my book “Dark to Light”.
.
Dedicated to readers and their loved ones whose lives are or have been touched in any way by addiction, “Dark to Light” relates by example the deeply personal, brutally honest, darkest throes of my 43 year alcohol and drug addiction, the difficult climb out of that hole and the hard-fought transformation to the man I am today while offering tremendous insight and hope for those who may have lost their own.As a teaching tool, I share many tough lessons including how reality is perceived and justified in an addicts broken brain, discovering the one word that was my life ring, 12 Step based solutions for the pain and problems of addiction and a very short sentence that can open the door to recovery”….
.
Dean’s “Powerful words” on his website hit home for me. Because my book was born in a similar “calling” on my heart after reading about a woman who committed “Suicide” by shot-gun, just because she could not STOP her gambling addiction! After reading that article in the paper, I had such a desire and pull to write, because I almost was that woman! I had to see all I’d been through with my addiction on paper, and in black and white not knowing at the time, one day those writings would turn into a BOOK! That is what drew me toward Dean after meeting him on LinkedIn, and visiting his book website here: http://www.deaningram.com …
.
You can also find Dean on LinkedIn here: www.linkedin.com/pub/dean-ingram/84/324/544/ and follow him on Facebook to here: https://www.facebook.com/ingrambooks so go connect and “Like” and follow his FB page, as he likes meeting new people as I DO!
Dean is a lot like me as he is not shy about who he is, and where he has been in order to reach out to others who still suffer from drug and alcohol problems or those addicted. We can not shatter the “Stigma” if those of us in recovery don’t speak out about these cunning addictions! The only way to stomp stigma, is up to people like Dean and myself , and to share with others who have not been touched by any addiction, show a little “Insight” so we may “Inform, make Aware, and Educate” the public about these awful addictions that destroy lives.
So I asked Dean a couple of questions that I ask all my *Guests* about their books, as we in recovery all have a story to tell and share. And it is a powerful tool to help new people who have begun their own recovery paths.
.
My 2 questions for Dean are,….
.
1.) What made you become a Writer/Author? (Dean) Pent up emotions is what got me started.
2.) What do you find as the most enjoyable part about being an Author? (Dean) Releasing the pent-up emotion by writing was the most enjoyable part … along with getting acquainted with my personal honesty.
.
*No Dean, your answers were just fine! So I hope you’ll join me in “Thanking Dean” for being brave enough to let me share him with all of you! I strongly suggest you go grab a copy of his New Book “Dark To Light,” and if you know a friend or loved one who may benefit from Dean’s story, buy the book and give it as a “Gift” to them, because you never know if it may just save a life, or help someone who has addiction problems reach out for help. And as I always tell you, please let Dean know that *Catherine* sent you!*
.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
