Happy 2019 PR Message From My Dear Friend Marsha of News & Experts. New Year and a New Branding For Authors!

2019 Offers A Fresh Start To Re-Ignite Your Personal Brand – BY Marsha Friedman

It’s that exciting time of year when we look with eager anticipation to the future, plotting out how we can make the coming 365 days even better than the previous ones.

Maybe you want to expand your business. Perhaps you hope to add a few percentage points to your sales goals.

As you set all those wonderful goals for 2019, make sure you don’t neglect to include a few resolutions for continuing to build your personal brand. These days, with the ever-changing media landscape, the opportunities to ramp up your publicity are more plentiful than ever, yet I don’t think people are always aware of that – or realize how to take advantage of those opportunities when they are aware.

For example, nearly all print publications have an online presence that helps them reach a potentially larger audience than when they depended on delivering to homes and newsstands within a limited geographic area. And it’s easier than ever for you to share with others any articles you are quoted in, either by posting links on your website or by making use of social media.

Meanwhile, new online publications continue to pop up, so the digital realm is creating additional print real estate – and additional opportunities for you.
So, as you toast the arrival of the New Year and prepare to take advantage of the digital domain’s publicity possibilities in 2019, here are a few things you should be doing:

Maintain a strong social media presence.
One of your best weapons in the quest for publicity is social media, which can help you make connections both with the media and with your target audience. Jay York, our senior digital marketing strategist, says it’s important to know which platforms are best for what you do. For example, let’s say you are a restaurant owner.

Instagram provides a platform for foodies photographing their meals, as well as an avenue to browse hashtags related to new and interesting cuisines. Facebook offers broad appeal and features such as event creation, which provides additional value to restaurants. If you’re a financial professional, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn all are good. LinkedIn is a great place to build your network and authority with higher-end clients.

,,,

Facebook’s ad network provides powerful tools for targeting the right audience. Twitter, like LinkedIn, also provides an opportunity to focus on building authority and networking with other industry and business influencers.

Develop a content-rich website.
Your website, among other things, provides you with a chance to be your own publisher. Are you miffed that no one else will publish your thoughtful op-ed article? Don’t pout! Instead, create a blog, providing those who visit your website valuable information based on your insight in your area of expertise. Update the blog at least every week or two so people will keep coming back to read your newest thoughts and advice for them.

Create a digital-media footprint.
Vow that in 2019 you are going to redouble your efforts to pitch story ideas to the media. Reach out to publications and let them know how their readers would benefit from what you have to say. (Remember your blog? You can share that with journalists as well, giving them an even better taste of the topics you can speak about.)

If you find success reaching top-tier media, great! But don’t neglect the seemingly smaller players, including trade publications and your local small daily and weekly newspapers. The articles that small publications write are sometimes picked up by larger publications, and all of it can be linked to on your website, helping to impress clients and potential clients that you are someone the media turn to when they need a voice of authority.

As you do all these things and the months of 2019 fly by, who knows how one great publicity success might lead to another. We once had a social media strategist who was asked to discuss a topic on a local TV station. The appearance worked out so well that for a while he became a regular on the show.

Those opportunities can build and build, and build some more!

Just maybe, 2019 will be your best year for publicity ever!

Let the fireworks begin!

Marsha!

4 Ways To Boost Book Sales For The Holidays | BookDaily #Authortips
By:

Myrlande E Sauveur
.
Books make excellent gifts for any occasion. They are very affordable, easy to wrap and make great stuffing stuffers for the holidays. As an author you have to learn how to make the best of the holiday season to boost your book sales. Here are four ways to help you:

1. Be visible: Be where your readers are, be a source of information by becoming an expert in your field, and consistently bring value to them. Be active on social media, create a special holiday blog, offer to be a guest blogger on different blogs, be a guest on a local TV and radio show.

2. Make your book accessible: Having your book available in multiple formats and different channels will help boost your sales and you will never miss a selling opportunity, such as having hard copies for speaking engagements and instant sale; eBook format for worldwide distributions, Kindle for Kindle users, Nook for Nook users. EBooks are always great for last-minute gift.

3. Get your community involved: Many local organizations and businesses give out books to different charities and their employees for the holiday season; make your book be their book of choice by doing the followings:
‱ Find out which organizations/companies fit your book genre
‱ Creatively link the theme(s) of your book to their motto and engage in partnership
‱ Offer special holiday discount for buying in bulk
‱ Offer to be a special guest at their holiday events

4. Give back: The holiday season is all about giving back and make people smile so what’s the best way to do that than supporting a charitable cause with part of your proceeds?

You can create a “holiday buy for a cause” campaign, autographed copies giveaway, offer autographed copies with free shipping on your website. Give out bookmarks, and/or Free copy with the purchase of three or more. And don’t forget to ask them to recommend your book to their friends, family members and social media networks.

Happy selling and happy holidays.

( Books make great Holiday Gifts for your Readers on your list! )

Celebrating 100 Issues With A 100 Days Writing Challenge!

 By Michaela Zanello

Today marks the 100th edition of the Be A Bestseller Inbox Magazine—time to break out the bubbly! It’s been a fabulous and insightful journey thus far, and I am proud to have joined Jen early in the process as she continues to build this wonderful community of writers, authors, and entrepreneurs.

Over the past 100 issues, we’ve met some amazing authors, some of whom are award winners, others have started their own publishing companies, and others still are using their unique voices to elevate their author brands and make a difference in the world.

We have also featured numerous great products and resources and had several talented writers inform and inspire us with their guest posts—writers including Dr. Morgan Giddings, Sara Hathaway, Sandra Beckwith, Dennis De Rose, Angela B. Chrysler, and Ara Grigorian.

And from pen names to podcasts, we have covered a whole slew of interesting topics in our Big Ideas.

Today, in honor of Be A Bestseller’s 100th issue, I am posing a writing challenge, one which involves starting a book from scratch and completing it along with a marketing plan in 100 days.

Meaning by June 28, 2015—100 days from today—anyone who chooses to participate will have a brand new book written and published; plus, they will have a marketing plan ready to implement. And the book can be any genre—fiction, non-fiction, memoir, a children’s book, or a collection of poems or essays.

What do you think, are you game?

100 Days Writing Challenge

The challenge will largely be up to your own scheduling and creativity. But here are a few basic tips and suggestions to get you on the right path.

What to Write

Your brain may already be teeming with brilliant ideas for what you want your book to be about. But if “On your mark, get set, WRITE!” doesn’t exactly get your creativity charging from the gates, here are 3 writing prompts you can use to help you get inspired.

Prompt #1: Location, location, location

Start by picking a scene, any scene—it could even be the room from where you are writing—and simply describe it in as much detail as possible. Be sure to include elements that capture the mood and tone as well.

Prompt #2: T.V. time

As you are watching television, take note of any interesting commercials. Then, craft a short work of fiction based on the commercial’s character dynamics and narrative. Choose one of the commercial’s characters and write from his or her perspective.

Prompt #3: Café eavesdropping

Go and sit in a nearby coffee shop. Write down everything you see, smell, and hear—from the busy barista, to the scent of java in the air, to the bits and pieces of dialogue you overhear—write it all down and try to pick up on patterns and anything that surprises you.

Character Development and Outlining

After you’ve got an idea of what you want your story to be about, it’s time to flesh your characters out and create an outline.

Basically, you want to learn as much as possible about your characters—from what they look like, to what their hopes, dreams, goals, and biggest fears entail.

TIP: Whenever I’m working on character development, I like to have my characters take the Myers-Briggs Personality Profiling test. The test helps discern things like how my characters view the world, how they interact with other people, and what their approach to problem-solving would be.

Next, it’s time to create an outline, which can eventually turn into your book’s table of contents. Break up your book into chapters and write a brief description of what is going to happen in each chapter.

TIP: You should know what your book’s ending is going to be before you start to write, because knowing your final destination makes it less likely to veer off course.

Make a Schedule

The challenge is set for 100 days, so it’s a good idea to reverse engineer that timeline. Depending on how long you expect your book to be, figure out how many days or weeks you have to write each chapter. For example, if you expect your book to have 10 chapters, you would have 10 days to write each chapter.

NOTE:  You will also need to factor in time for editing, a final read through, getting your book’s cover designed, and creating an overview of your marketing plan.

Make a schedule that works for you, but hold yourself accountable. If you set a goal to write one chapter a week, then hold yourself to it. Check out the Write or Die app to help make sure you follow through on your goals.

No excuses allowed. You’re makin’ it happen.

So, what do you say, are you going to take the 100 Days Writing Challenge? Let us know on the Be A Bestseller Facebook fan page and definitely give us a shout on June 28th too, once you’ve finished your book! We’ll check in with you closer to then. 😉

Happy 100th, BAB! And remember: Voice mattes. Dare to share yours. Impact the world.

Chris Kennedy
.
This week’s Makin’ It Happen author is bestselling science fiction/fantasy writer and self-publishing guru Chris Kennedy.

A fiction writer and elementary school principal turned publisher, Chris teaches students and aspiring authors how to become accomplished writers by honing their skills, inspiring their creative processes, and sharing his insider’s perspective on the world of self-publishing.

Chris traveled a non-traditional path to becoming an author, proving there is no “right” way to get there. A naval officer for 20 years and then an elementary school principal for another 5 years, Chris finally tried his hand at writing while working as an instructional systems designer for the U.S. Navy.

Unable to find an agent to take him on, he chose to self-publish his first book Red Tide: The Chinese Invasion of Seattle, and he hasn’t looked back since.

To date, Chris has written 6 fiction novels. His first 2 books were the military fiction duology called Red Tide: The Chinese Invasion of Seattle and Occupied Seattle, which he followed with “The Theogony” science fiction trilogy: Janissaries, When the Gods Aren’t Gods, and Terra Stands Alone. His sixth novel is Can’t Look Back, which is the first installment of a new, epic fantasy trilogy.

Chris used the experience he gained publishing these books to write his non-fiction book Self-Publishing for Profit: How to Get the Book Out of Your Head and Into the Stores.

Additionally, after having seen the latest version of the Nation’s Report Card, which indicated that only 27% of American 8th and 12th grade students can write at a level of “proficient” or better, Chris developed a program called “Total Engagement: Giving Young Authors a Voice,” which he is now working with schools to implement.

Chris’ program brings published authors into schools as a way of encouraging students to write more and sharpening their literacy skills. By developing and publishing classroom anthologies, Chris gets students excited about writing by enabling them to include “published author” on their college applications.

You can earn more about Chris and his work at:

“JUST TWEET IT BABY”! Use Twitter As Part Of Your Author Book Promotions And Social Media Marketing Plan…

Hello and Welcome Friends, Writers, & New Visitors,

.

.
Yes! That’s right. My opinion is….”Just Tweet It Baby!
Not many know that I have self-taught little ole me all about “Social Media & Book Promotions,” and it’s not easy. Social Media is forever changing and evolving, so keeping up on all the latest “HOT PICKS” is a job in itself. For me though, that’s part of the fun of learning new things about Social Media Marketing!
.

So I thought I’d share a few things I found out about Twitter.com that I didn’t know before, and want to share some of their other services that enhance your Twitter experience, and save you time in the process. Now since I’m not an actual business, with a virtual store front. No, I’m just a penniless first time author promoting my paperback & eBook,  as to help others in Recovery from Gambling Addiction. I also share about living with undiagnosed, and then diagnosed Mental illness & disorders, as well as speak out about my own childhood trauma & abuse here on my blog. I share what I went through not as a victim, but as a survivor to let others know they are not alone, and help is available with NO Shame attached.  So I use Social Media to share information, educate, inform, and raise awareness of these important issues. And I use Twitter as part of my messaging this info out into the world!

Twitter has actually come a long way to helping many of us share information in a quick, short informative posts! Only 140 characters to be exact,…Lol,  but the hard part is to build your following of followers, so others will network with you in the form of Re-Tweets, Favorite your tweets, and share them with other tweet peeps!
For me as a person in Recovery, and is important to do, I use many HashTags#  in all my tweets to get my information to the targeted readers who maybe interested in what I’m tweeting about. I love to interact with others, and I try to show that too in my tweets as well. Why not get a reaction? Nothing wrong with that. It helps to create a “Buzz in Tweet World”!  Most all my tweet services I use are free, save you time in posting tweets, and you get a longer exposure time of your single tweet. For me that’s all things recovery, and all about my book and where they can find it, and learn where to visit me on both my blogs and Social Media sites. Come follow me on Twitter here,  @LUV_Recovery  &  @kitcatlyon….

One of the awesome tweet tools I use is here at: http://www.twilk.com/ where you can go and display your Twitter Supporters & Followers as your background of your twitter profile. It’s really fun to do. It shows you CARE about your tweet pals. Another great service for Twitter is http://www.commun.it.com/
Here is a little more about how you can use Twitter in many ways, and about how Commun.it helps you keep track of your peeps who interact with you!
